Academic Competition:

Contig
Contig is a game involving three dice that contestants multiply, add, divide or subtract in some fashion to match numbers listed on a game board. The game promotes the ability of students to remember and use math facts. Students in 4th through 6th Grade compete within their class. Classroom winners will then compete and the overall winner goes on to play in the County Contig Contest.

Math Counts

ICTM Math Contest The Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) was organized in 1949 to create and foster greater interest in the teaching of mathematics at all grade levels. Jordan Catholic School participates in 3 rounds of the annual Math competition each year.

Science Fair
Every other year, 7th and 8th grade science students participate in an in-house science fair. Students are required to choose a scientific question, research the topic, conduct experiments, and report their findings. Students compete against other classmates in both grades and work on their projects in science class.  

Spelling Bee
Students in 5th-8th Grades participate in the Argus Spelling Bee for a chance to compete in February at Augustana College with other area students to win a trip to Washington, DC in the National Scripps Spelling Bee Competition. All preliminary practices and bees are held in each homeroom class with winners from each room being the representative for the final bee held in early February.
