Congratulations to 8th grader, Cate, for having an article published in the Dispatch explaining the importance of receiving a Catholic education here at Jordan Catholic School. What a week to be a Jaguar! We are so very proud of you! The importance of Catholic education Catholic education is the choice of many parents for various different reasons, but it really depends on the family, so I’m not so sure for others. All I know is that I’m extremely grateful for my parents making the decision to enroll me at Jordan Catholic School. They know that incorporating God’s teachings in my life is one of the most important things to learn, and they’ve made it very clear that being taught at a Catholic school makes it easy to understand the life of Jesus, Mary, and all the saints. We learn about the history of the church, the meanings of Bible stories, we learn to see the world and all of its blessings from the perspective of God’s creation, and we come to know that no matter who we are or what we do, he will love us no matter what. It gives me a place of security and belonging, a sense of joyfulness and hope. Everyone has their reasons for going to Catholic school, but I know for a fact that this is mine.

Congratulations to 8th grader, Molly, for having an article published recently in the Dispatch! You can find the article here: https://qconline.com/opinion/letters/catholic-schools-education-quad-cities-schools/article_c3084a2b-75a6-5b63-b42c-4bc4f12c24e7.html Or read it below: Going to a Catholic school can make a difference in your future. The teachers at Catholic schools are always supportive and care about the education and well-being of the students. Whenever kids are struggling, they are there to answer any of their questions. The students at Catholic schools also are always there for each other and have each other's backs especially in their hardest moments. People are supportive of each other and always show empathy. People stand up for others when something is wrong. Parents send their kids to Catholic schools because they get a quality education. We don’t just learn from textbooks, but we also learn the difference between right and wrong. When going to a Catholic school, we also learn about giving back to others and what the meaning of service is. We don’t just help in the school, but also in the community. The most important thing about attending a Catholic school is that you get to learn about God every day and grow in your faith. You learn about all the sacrifices God has made for us and our purpose here on Earth. Every day you are at a Catholic school, God is always with you. There is no other place I would rather go to school because when I walk through the halls, I feel loved and cared for. Going to Catholic Schools will have an impact on you for the rest of your life and will prepare you for the world.

It's so heartwarming to see our Early Act students at Generations at Rock Island, sharing the love this Valentine's Day! Not only did they bring bright smiles and colorful flowers, but they also serenaded the residents with some Taylor Swift tunes! What a beautiful way to connect generations and spread kindness in our community.

As our priests travel to Peoria for the Diocese of Peoria's 150th Anniversary Opening Mass, please keep them in your prayers. O Almighty and merciful God, who hast commissioned Thy angels to guide and protect us, command them to be our assiduous companions from our setting out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep from us all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of falls and bruises; and, finally, having preserved us from all evil, and especially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
